NASA Estimates Moon Rocket Will Cost $104B

NASA also says they will not return astronauts to the moon until 2018, using rockets and engines that have been developed for the shuttle and other ongoing programs.

Why in the world will it take 2-3 years longer to get back to the moon, than it did to get there originally? What kind of boon-doggle bureacracy have they created? Wouldn't a joint NASA-private sector project be faster and less costly?

It's time to piggy back on the private sector and use American technology...

Don't you think? Am I alone on this?

Greg, you are truly the sound of one hand clapping.

Burt Rutan and Scaled Composites with be sipping Mai Tai's at the Sea of Tranquility before NASA gets of the ground. I'm glad the private sector finally got into the space travel industry.
